Flexshield is a provider of noise reduction curtains and other noise-control solutions. In many applications, such as for a metal fabrication workshop, these solutions have reduced noise to a satisfactory level and are thus proven effective.
Flexshield is a top manufacturer, supplier and installer of noise reduction curtains and other soundproofing solutions. A wide variety of industrial clients, many of whom operate facilities like welding booths and grinding bays which generate high levels of noise, depend on the company’s tried and tested sound-reduction applications.
In one such application, noise reducing curtains and screens were installed in a grinding bay operated by a steel fabrication company in Carrum Downs. Before coming to Flexshield, they had cordoned off a corner of the facility for this bay and had installed screens to isolate said area in an attempt to control the noise it generated, but to little effect.
Noise levels in such facilities are in general quite high, ranging from 80 to 125dB(A); Flexshield recorded a pre-installation official noise level of 97dBA at the client’s facility. The grinding bay operated for hours on end, posing an extreme hazard to the hearing not only of its operators, but to all in the vicinity.
After an initial consultation, Flexshield crafted clear flexible noise reduction curtains and installed them around the grinding bay in an L-shaped configuration to isolate the bay and prevent its noise from being transmitted to the rest of the client’s facility.
While the screens were designed to block sound, they were also made flexible to permit easy ingress and egress, and clear to permit external lighting to penetrate the area and allow for full visibility for safety reasons.
After these noise reduction curtains were installed, Flexshield recorded an official post-treatment noise level of 78 dBA -- significantly lower than before the screens were installed, and a figure below the average noise range of 80 to 125dB(A).
In this application, as in many others, Flexshield’s solutions proved effective at managing industrial noise, thus reducing its impact on health and wellbeing.
